And Then She Surrendered…
She has run for such a long time that she doesn’t even realize her feet are blistered and bleeding. She has gone full force – to the point where she no longer recognizes the pain and exhaustion that plagues her body. She has twisted and tied herself up in knots for so long, she no longer realizes that her body is crying for peace, for quiet, for stillness.
The voices are loud, but she is trying not to listen. They plead for her to continue the race. “Don’t stop!” they say, “Or you will lose.” She pauses and asks:
“What game am I trying to win?”
“Where is the finish line?”
“What is the prize?”
She pauses.
Then she begins to notice that the race was never real. There is no finish line. Only bloody feet, sick body, and exhausted soul. She will rest now. She will slow down. She will listen to her own voice. The voice that says “I hear you, I see you, and I love you. You are more than enough.”
